RWCDVS - Amazing.

You may ask yourself what is RWCDVS?
REAR WINDOW CAPTIONING® / DESCRIPTIVE VIDEO SERVICE®

Select films at each of these locations is offered with Rear View Captioning® for Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing Impaired Guests using portable, transparent acrylic panels that fit right in your drink cup holder.

DVS Theatrical® (descriptive narration service for Blind and Visually Impaired) is broadcast to your seat via headphones and will also be available for select films at the same locatioLimited quantities are available at select locations."Look for the following symbols RWC®/DVS® on the Cineplex Entertainment website movie listings to confirm films and showtimes.

This is how I enjoy my movies at the theatres. This is exactly what I do when I'm at home, I watch movies with subtitles to understand it even more. For years, I've been going to the movie theatre and enjoying hundreds of flicks with expensive Popcorn and Root Beer. But all of those years, I didn't get a chance to experience it with subtitles. The only time that I actually got to watch a movie with subtitles was "Hero" with Jet Li, because it was in Japanese and needed English Subtitles.

How does it work? Simple.

"Rear Window Captioning enables movie fans with hearing loss to enjoy a film via reflected captions that appear on a

plexiglas panel at the seat. Patrons sitting in the surrounding seats cannot see the captions"

Peterborough Galaxy Cinemas doesn't have this installed at their location which I had to drive to either two locations with RWCDVS, Yorkdale Mall or Belleville. Lot of gas money just for a movie so I can view it with the full experience of enjoying a movie.

I remember the first time that I watched a movie with RWCDVS, I was so excited that I was actually paying my money's worth instead of just moving pictures with some lines that I could hear. But really, this was amazing for me and still is. I watched Transformers 2 with the subtitles, with the metal grinding sound effects but I could understand the movie though. I was very pleased with that. Got to watch "Shutter Island" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" with this amazing piece of technology.

I don't understand why the Galaxy Cinemas in Peterborough doesn't have it yet, there's a demand for this and they still haven't got it installed. It's very limited though. Since moving to Port Credit, I'm very close to Yorkdale Mall (about 20 minutes or so) and I can able to watch movies without a worry. I had a rule when it came to watching movies at the theatres, No Comedy. That's right, I didn't want to watch comedies because I would miss the punchline. I would try and watch movies that had visual effects or Roland Emmerich movies.

Most of my friends will turn on the Closed Captioning option for me when I come over to their places, it makes me happy that they understand that I do need Closed Captioning/English Subtitles to watch anything.

I'm very happy that I just get to enjoy these movies without trying hard to listen to every line in the movie. Because I grew up with Closed Captioning on the BoobTube, I can read a book in no-time though.

I hope in the future that EVERY movie theatre will have this amazing technology installed. It's a must for anybody who is hard of hearing.

WHY NOT? THERE'S A ZILLION OF THEM.

You may ask this question.

"Why Another Vending Machine?"

Well...The answer is simple.

I want to vent my opinions. When I give my opinions on a topic, I'm brutally honest and harsh about it. If you can't deal with that, you might not want to be here then. Also, I'm just a regular guy with a diploma in Web Developer. I don't follow politics. I watch hockey. I drink beer. I'm just your regular Canadian Joe.

With this blog, I'm hoping to vent about a lot of topics. Hence the name of the blog. I feel that a Vending Machine can offer a lot of options, so why not topics?

I will be talking from a lot of topics such as Hockey, Beer, Politics, Movies, Music, Peterborough, Port Credit, Canada, anything you can even imagine. Maybe there will be a topic on Polka Music or Banjo Guitars or Little People, Big World.

I'm very laid back and easygoing.

So every once in a while, I'll be posting something that I will be venting my opinion about or praising about it.

Why not? There's a zillion of them.
